My Thoughts: Spoiler Alert
Finally, a Romantic Kdrama for us 30+ girlies that do not like unnecessary drama. This series satisfied the craving I had been having for a beautiful romance story without excessive twists and turns and without being dragged out. It had been a while since I had watched a beautiful romance story, and this series brought me out of my Kdrama slump.
This series gave a realistic portrayal of romance between two adults in the workplace as well as the other intrigues that come along with their daily lives. I also enjoyed its depiction of corporate competition, espionage (on a small scale), and manipulation. The villain (maybe I shouldn't call her that) was just despicable. I can never understand people who are greedy and wicked for no reason. At each point, she kept antagonizing the female lead and doing all she could to destroy her company. I am so glad this is a Kdrama, and good won in the end, even though we know life doesn't usually end that way.
I also enjoyed the fact that there was no drawn-out love triangle. They gave a hint of it at the beginning, but the second male lead was smart enough to know he didn't stand a chance, and he moved on quite nicely. The same goes for the second female lead; she knew when to walk away and was not spiteful or annoying. The second male and female leads were both cute, and I was glad the writers didn't make us hate them.
The portrayal of being a single parent balancing their career was also well done. It showed the struggles of being a single parent (emotional and physical) as well as the benefits of having a supportive community. It didn't sugarcoat things or make things seem so difficult that you pitied them. It was a good balance of the ups and downs of single parenthood.
The side characters were also well written. I absolutely enjoyed the friendship between Ji Yun and Mi Ae. It can be difficult when friends work together, especially when the younger one is the boss, but Mi Ae knew when to push back and when to let Ji Yun have her way. The way they also depicted Mi Ae's personal life was refreshing. It was realistic in showing a couple that wasn't ready for children yet but were understanding of each other and their career goals.
Overall, it was a beautifully written story, and I would recommend you watch it.
